Haemorrhage into co-twin

**Definition:** Monozygous twins often share a placenta. Vascular anastomoses within the placenta allow for the transfer of blood between the two fetuses. In some cases, the flow is unbalanced and one fetus (larger, plethoric, and polycythaemic twin) has an overload of fluid, while the other (smaller, hydropic twin) becomes anaemic.
