Subarachnoid nontraumatic haemorrhage of fetus or newborn

**Definition:** A condition characterised by bleeding into the area between the arachnoid membrane and the pia mater (subarachnoid space) surrounding the brain of a fetus or newborn that is not due to injury causing physical damage.
