**Definition:** A condition characterised by bleeding within the part of the intracranial cavity located between the foramen magnum and tentorium cerebelli (posterior fossa) including bleeding in tissue of the cerebellum or brain stem, of a fetus or newborn that is not due to injury causing physical damage.
