Rh isoimmunization of fetus or newborn
**Definition:** A condition characterised by the transmission of antibodies from a mother to the child via the placenta against the Rhesus factor of blood. Such antibodies were developed in a Rhesus factor negative mother subsequent to exposure to Rhesus factor positive blood resulting in the break-down of the red blood cells of the fetus.
