Transient hypothyroxinaemia
**Definition:** Transient hypothyroxinaemia is characterised by low thyroxine (T4, T3 and FT4) levels but normal level of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), and is seen in preterm infants, usually those born before 30 weeks of gestational age.
