Metabolic bone disease of prematurity

**Definition:** A paediatric condition characterised by bone abnormalities in a newborn due to abnormalities of minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium or vitamin D associated with the child being born prior to completing 37 weeks of gestation.
