Congenital stenosis or stricture of oesophagus
**Definition:** A form of incomplete oesophageal obstruction due to a developmental defect of the primitive foregut. Abnormal narrowing of the oesophagus occurs most often at the junction of the middle and lower thirds. Clinical manifestations, apparent 2 to 3 weeks after birth, include dysphagia and progressive vomiting.
