Polyploidies

**Definition:** Any disease caused by one or more additional sets of chromosomes. Non-mosaic versions of these diseases are characterised by gross fetal malformation or death of the fetus. Confirmation is through observation of supernumerary sets of chromosomes by karyotyping.
