Aphonia

**Definition:** Aphonia is the inability to produce voice. It is considered more severe than dysphonia. Like dysphonia, aphonia can be caused by voice strain or overuse, injury, by structural laryngeal anomalies or by dystonic neurological disorders.

**Exclusions:** - Dissociative disorders
