Stridor

**Definition:** Stridor or a low-pitched, focal inspiratory wheeze usually heard over the neck is a manifestation of upper airway obstruction and should result in an expedited evaluation of the patient as it can precede complete upper airway obstruction and respiratory failure.

**Exclusions:** - congenital laryngeal stridor - laryngismus (stridulus)
