Haemoglobinuria

**Definition:** The presence of free haemoglobin in the urine, indicating haemolysis of erythrocytes within the vascular system. After saturating the haemoglobin-binding proteins (haptoglobins), free haemoglobin begins to appear in the urine.

**Exclusions:** - Marchiafava-Micheli syndrome
