Allergen immunotherapy

**Definition:** Allergen immunotherapy (AIT) is the stimulation of the immune system with the administration of gradually increasing doses of the substance/allergen to which the patient is allergic. AIT is indicated in the treatment of many allergic conditions, such as allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma, allergic conjunctivitis, IgE-mediated food allergies among others.
