Acinar Cell Neoplasms
Acinar cell neoplasms are malignant tumours that arise from the exocrine acinar cells of the pancreas, most commonly represented by acinar cell carcinoma and mixed acinar-neuroendocrine carcinoma. They typically present with abdominal pain, weight loss and may secrete lipase causing subcutaneous fat necrosis; they frequently metastasise to the liver, peritoneum and lymph nodes. Primary treatment is surgical resection when feasible, often followed by chemotherapy or radiation for advanced disease.
