Bifidobacterium bifidum

**Definition:** A species of Bifidobacterium that occurs in the human GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT, especially in infants, and in FERMENTED DAIRY PRODUCTS. It produces BACTERIOCINS and is used as a PROBIOTIC.
