**Definition:** Rapidly destructive shoulder joint and bone disease found mainly in elderly, and predominantly in women. It is characterized by SHOULDER PAIN; JOINT INSTABILITY; and the presence of crystalline CALCIUM PHOSPHATES in the SYNOVIAL FLUID. It is associated with ROTATOR CUFF INJURIES.
