Alphacoronavirus

**Definition:** A genus of the family CORONAVIRIDAE which causes respiratory or gastrointestinal disease in a variety of mammals. Human alphacoronaviruses include Human coronavirus 229E and NL63. All members share the identical core transcription regulatory sequences of 5’-CUAAAC-3’ and most have 1 to 2 ORFs downstream to the N protein gene.
