**Definition:** A genus of the family CORONAVIRIDAE that causes respiratory or gastrointestinal disease in avian species (or birds). The type species, AVIAN CORONAVIRUS, includes the previously separate species TURKEY CORONAVIRUS; and INFECTIOUS BRONCHITIS VIRUS.
