**Definition:** Thermal destruction of the excess bronchial SMOOTH MUSCLE tissue with heat delivered through a catheter assembly attached to a BRONCHOSCOPE. It is often used to control BRONCHIAL HYPERREACTIVITY in severe ASTHMA for better AIRWAY MANAGEMENT.
