Calicheamicins

**Definition:** Enediyne aminoglycosides derived from the bacterium MICROMONOSPORA ECHINOSPORA that are used as antineoplastic antibiotics. They bind to DNA in both healthy and tumor cells, resulting in strand scission and cell death.
