**Definition:** A sheet of fibrous connective tissue rich in COLLAGEN often linking two parallel bony structures forming a syndesmosis type joint. It provides longitudinal stability, TENSILE STRENGTH, and weight distribution/transfer and may allow limited movement in syndesmoses.
