Cercospora

**Definition:** A genus of fungi in the family Mycosphaerellaceae, order Capnodiales and phylum ASCOMYCOTA. Cercospora fungi are ascomycete and causative agents for plant fungal diseases such as leaf spots. Cercospora species produce the phytotoxin cercosporin and have no known sexual stage.
