**Definition:** A genus of fungi in the family Hymenochaetaceae, order Hymenochaetales, and phylum BASIDIOMYCOTA. Inonotus fungi are basidiomycetes and include medicinal mushrooms such as chaga mushroom (Inonotus obliquus).
