**Definition:** Mathematical models of the transmission of infectious diseases. They predict spread of a disease by incorporating disease-related (e.g., infectious agent, mode of transmission, latent period, infectious period) and abiotic factors (e.g., social, cultural, demographic, and geographic factors).
