Foveomacular Retinitis

**Definition:** A photochemical injury to retina tissues, usually at the RETINAL PIGMENT EPITHELIUM. It is commonly associated with sungazing, eclipse viewing, welding, or using a laser pointer without proper eye protection resulting in subjective visual disturbances (e.g., floaters) and reduced VISUAL ACUITY.
