Natural Resistance-associated Macrophage Protein 1
**Definition:** A cation transport protein that shares structural homology with prokaryotic and eukaryotic transport proteins. In mammals, it is a MACROPHAGE-specific antiporter, transporting metal ions in either direction against a proton gradient, and localizes to membranes of late ENDOSOMES and LYSOSOMES, where it may contribute to antimicrobial activity.
