MAP-Kinase-Activated Kinase 2
**Definition:** A serine-threonine protein kinase that functions in many different processes including the cellular response to PHYSIOLOGICAL STRESS, production of CYTOKINES; ENDOCYTOSIS; CYTOSKELETON dynamics, CELL MIGRATION; and CELL PROLIFERATION. It is phosphorylated by MAPK14 in response to stress, and in turn phosphorylates substrates at a SERINE that is preceded by a large hydrophobic amino acid.
