**Definition:** A highly infectious disease caused by FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE VIRUS that affects mammals of the ARTIODACTYLA order (CATTLE; SHEEP; GOATS; and PIGS) and is characterized by high fever followed by the appearance of blisters inside the mouth and on the feet.
