Lemuridae

**Definition:** A family of the order PRIMATES, suborder STREPSIRHINI, containing four genera which inhabit Madagascar and the Comoro Island. Most of the lemurs prefer wooded areas. The four genera are Hapalemur, LEMUR, Lepilemur, and Varecia.
