**Definition:** Body builds determined on the basis of certain physical characteristics of body shape and BODY COMPOSITION. A somatotyping appraisal is a composite rating of the three basic body types: ectomorph (thin physique), endomorph (rounded physique), and mesomorph (athletic physique).
