Diarylheptanoids

**Definition:** A group of compounds consisting of two aryl rings linked by seven carbons (HEPTANES) which may be acyclic (linear) or cyclic. It is a group of secondary metabolites in polyketide synthesis pathway best exemplified by a linear diarylheptanoid CURCUMIN.
