ELAV Proteins

**Definition:** A family of RRM PROTEINS that are homologues of ELAV protein, Drosophila. They were initially identified in humans as the targets of autoantibodies in patients with PARANEOPLASTIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS. They regulate GENE EXPRESSION at the post-transcriptional level.
