**Definition:** An SMN complex protein that is closely-related to SURVIVAL OF MOTOR NEURON 1 PROTEIN. In humans, the protein is encoded by an often duplicated gene found near the inversion CENTEROMERE of a large inverted region of CHROMOSOME 5.
