Dasyproctidae

**Definition:** A family of Central and South American plant-eating rodents comprising the agoutis (Dasyprocta) and acouchis (Myoprocta). They look similar to guinea pigs (CAVIA) but are larger and have longer legs. Their fur is reddish or dark brown.
