Cardiac Valve and Other Major Cardiothoracic Procedures with Cardiac Catheterization MCC

Code 216 groups patients who undergo major cardiac valve or other major thoracic surgeries combined with a cardiac catheterization and who also have at least one major complication or comorbidity. This DRG reflects higher resource use and longer stays due to the complexity of the combined operative and invasive procedures. It is used for Medicare payment calculations in FY 2024.
