MDC01 groups inpatient stays whose principal diagnosis involves diseases and disorders of the central or peripheral nervous system, such as strokes, seizures, multiple sclerosis, or neurodegenerative conditions. These cases are assigned Medicare Severity DRGs based on clinical severity, complications, comorbidities, and resource consumption.
