Newborns and Other Neonates with Conditions Originating in the Perinatal Period

MDC15 covers newborns and other neonates who have diagnoses that originate in the perinatal period, including both medical and surgical conditions present at birth or shortly thereafter. These patients are grouped into Medicare Severity Diagnosis Related Groups specific to neonatal care for reimbursement and statistical reporting.
