**Definition:** A stretch of telomeric DNA where the normally guanine-rich (TTAGGG)n overhanging sequence has gaps while the cytosine-rich (AATCCC)n opposite strand remains intact. The resulting partially single-stranded telomere can adopt a circular confirmation.
