Macrophage Inflammatory Protein

**Definition:** A family of CC-motif cytokines that are produced by macrophages in response to endotoxin exposure. This family has two members C-C motif chemokine 3 and C-C motif chemokine 4. These chemokines promote the inflammatory response through the activation of human granulocytes and induction of the synthesis and release of other pro-inflammatory cytokines.
