Pichia norvegensis

**Definition:** A dimorphic yeast in the phylum Ascomycota. This species is ovoid or ellipsoidal shaped, arranged in single or pairs, ferments glucose and assimilates cellobiose but not galactose, sucrose, maltose, lactose, D-mannitol and D-glucitol, produces ascospores and utilizes thiamine, biotin and pyridoxine. P. norvegensis has been isolated from the normal vaginal flora.
