This species is oval, round, or cylindrical shaped, ferments glucose, does not form true hyphae and exists in either a yeast phase or a pseudohyphal form. C. orthopsilosis a commensal of human skin, and an opportunistic human pathogen which may cause superficial cutaneous infections.
