**Definition:** A human hematopoietic stem cell that is able to repopulate the hematopoietic system of non-obese diabetic/severe combined immunodeficient mice (NOD/SCID). Ex vivo culture conditions that can enrich these stem cells from peripheral blood samples could potentially be used to treat immunodeficiency in human patients.
