Occipital Diastasis

**Definition:** Birth trauma caused by excessive pressure to the suboccipital region of the skull resulting in separation of the occipital squama from the lateral or condylar parts of the occipital bone. It is a serious injury that may lead to subdural hemorrhage in the posterior fossa.
