FOXP3 Treg-Specific Demethylated Region

**Semantic type:** Gene or Genome|Indicator, Reagent, or Diagnostic Aid

**Definition:** A genetic marker that distinguishes regulatory T-cells (Tregs) from other T-lymphocytes. This marker is comprised of a demethylated CpG motif that is within the 5' untranslated region of the FOXP3 gene, which is only found in Tregs. This CpG motif is methylated in other T-cell lineages. The methylation status of this region of the FOXP3 gene may influence the expression of the transcription factor, forkhead box protein P3.

**Synonyms:** - FOXP3 TSDR - FOXP3 Treg Specific Demethylated Region
