**Definition:** A diphenylpropylamine and opioid receptor agonist, with analgesic activity. Upon administration, piritramide binds to and activates mu-opioid receptors in the central nervous system (CNS), thereby mimicking the effects of endogenous opioids and producing analgesic relief.
