PAM50 Gene Expression Signature

**Definition:** A diagnostic and prognostic system for breast cancer that can both classify a tumor as one of four intrinsic subtypes (luminal A, luminal B, HER2-enriched, or basal-like) and generate a score that reflects the patient's risk of disease recurrence. This system is based on the expression profile of 50 genes in a surgically resected breast cancer sample.
