Alpha 2u-Globulin Nephropathy

**Definition:** Increase in eosinophilic cytoplasmic droplets of alpha 2u-globulin in the S2 segment of the proximal tubules in the cortex with exfoliation of cells, an increase in mitotic figures in affected portions of the proximal tubules, tubular basophilia in some cases, and formation of granular casts at the junction of the inner and outer stripes of the medulla.
