**Definition:** A genus of rapidly growing moniliaceous fungi in the family Chaetomiaceae characterized by the production of solitary, hyaline, smooth walled aleurioconidia. Species in this genus are normally found in soil, air, cellulose and plant debris. Some species within the genus are causative agents of infections in immunocompromised individuals.
