Type I Collagen

**Definition:** A heterotrimeric fibrillar protein complex comprised of two collagen alpha-1(I) chains and one collagen alpha-2(I) chains. Type I collagen is the most abundant fibrillar collagen in humans and is present in scar tissue, tendons, ligaments, bone, dermis, dentin, and organ capsules.
