Rhodotorula

**Semantic type:** Fungus

**Definition:** A genus of unicellular pigmented yeast in the order Sporidiales that are positive for urease and negative for fermentation of carbohydrates. Rhodotorula species are widespread in the environment with only three species isolated from human clinical samples, usually in hosts with central venous catheters and/or immunosuppression.
