Topical Trichloroacetic Acid

**Definition:** A topical solution containing the caustic agent trichloroacetic acid (TCA), with potential keratolytic, anti-viral and antineoplastic activities. Upon topical application to the affected area, TCA causes tissue necrosis through coagulation of proteins, leads to the destruction of human papilloma virus (HPV)-associated warts and inhibits HPV-driven proliferation of cancer cells.
